Im 51, and i do about 30 to 40 miles a month doing 6 to 8 hour days hikes, with my 2 buddies, and we noticed a few things, most people hike locally for exercise and carry maybe 32 Oz of water, that’s it. like slipping on shale rocks and rolling down a mountain can’t happen, or getting dehydrated on a 93 deg day with a 10 on the UV index or a rattle snake won’t bite you cuz your a nature lover, or even a deer come crashing into the trail and run at you, or simply an e bike runs you over. I guess i believe in better to have and not need then need and not have.
